About Me: The Sovereign Architect
The Origin: Set by a Renaissance Man
I built my first website when I was 14. It was a sprawling, 38-page monstrosity with spinning email gifs and midi background music, but it was mine.
Around that same time, I remember my mother calling my father a “Renaissance Man.” When she explained what that meant—a person whose expertise spans a significant number of different subject areas—my path was set. I didn’t want to be the “best” at one thing; I wanted to understand everything that was interesting.
I traded my paper route for a tech support job at Compuserve at 15, and I haven’t worked a day since that didn’t involve a computer. But while my childhood pursuits of coding and technology took the lead, a passion for photography was quietly growing on the sidelines.
The Evolution: Snapshots to Lore
Visual storytelling has always been in my blood. I grew up in a family that treated photography as a sacred act. The photos displayed around our house weren’t just objects; they were members of the family, accompanied by lore that turned snapshots into legacy.
In 2010, the spark caught flame. I rediscovered what my parents knew all along: a photo’s true power isn’t in its technical perfection, but in the story it tells. I spent over two decades in software development—building internal web applications and large-scale portals for companies like Dell—while simultaneously learning to capture the atmosphere, movement, and emotion of the human experience.
The Architect: Life + Experience = Sovereignty
For years, I kept these lives separate. I was the “Tech Guy” in the boardroom and the “Creative” behind the lens.
But life has a way of integrating you. Through twenty years of software architecture and fifteen years of professional photography, I realized that I wasn’t just “doing” two different things. I was exercising the same muscle: The muscle of Design.
- Logic + Experience led to Digital Sovereignty (The System).
- Art + Witness led to Creative Sovereignty (The Story).
- Strategy + Community led to Financial Sovereignty (The Life).
Today, I am a Sovereign Architect. I help brands find their voice, tell their story, and transform their businesses by building digital systems that actually work. I help individuals reclaim their identity through soulful, intentional portraiture. And I am building a legacy in Detroit, a city that—like me—is defined by its ability to reinvent itself through grit and design.
I am an unapologetic generalist. I make things better. By design.
